The Rottweiler is a very serious dog breed, which is primarily perceived as a service dog.

Although, of course, you can have a Rottweiler as a pet, but to do this you need to learn more about the characteristics of this dog.

After all, dog handlers consider it one of the most aggressive, and given its size (the Rottweiler is very large), the dog definitely needs professional training. Otherwise, it can harm not only strangers, but also its own owners.

Features of appearance

1. Powerful build, strong muscular body.
2. The height of males is 65-70 centimeters, females - 55-60. The weight of the former reaches 65 kilograms, and the latter - up to 45.
3. The color is always strict: only black with brown markings. Red ones are allowed. The most interesting thing is that even the location of the spots is regulated: only on the cheeks, eyebrows, paws, chest and neck. Any other color is already considered a defect.

Character traits

An excellent guard, watchdog and guide dog, Rottweilers are very intelligent and are known as helpers.

It is easy to train. But it is better for the owner not to do it on his own, but to trust an experienced dog trainer. Otherwise, the dog may become uncontrollable, aggressive and angry.

Unobtrusive and calm. Perfect for a lonely person: the Rottweiler does not need a lot of company, but can have a great time alone.

Efficient. It is for this quality that Rottweilers are often used as service dogs.

Likes to dominate. Therefore, an inexperienced person who has never encountered large and aggressive breeds should not get a Rottweiler.

Such dogs feel and understand the power that comes from the owner, obey only the owner of a balanced and strict character. If the dog feels weakness or fear, he will not obey.

Easily enraged, at which point he clings to his prey so tightly that it is almost impossible to pull him away.

It is next to a Rottweiler that one can understand that a dog is first and foremost a predator, a domesticated version of a wolf.

Quite noisy. But overall it's not as annoying as, for example, the incessant barking of a small dog. Representatives of large breeds, as a rule, if they bark, then not for long and more quietly. They just have rough voices.

Unsociable. This applies to animals: the Rottweiler cannot be kept with other dogs, cats, and especially rodents.

He gets along well with people, but respects only one owner. It is not advisable to take him to a family with children: a child can unwittingly harm the dog, and it will bite him for it.

Needs long walks. The Rottweiler should be walked for at least an hour and a half in the morning and evening. He is large, therefore, he needs more time and effort to release energy.

And even a simple walk is not enough: you need to arrange a full-fledged physical exercise: take it to closed areas, let it off the leash and let it run around to its heart's content.
