Everyone has heard about the irreconcilable enmity between cats and dogs.
With rare exceptions, these types of animals can live together, and only if they grew up in the same apartment together.
Let's figure out what exactly makes some animals dislike others.
The first reason is a dislike of contacts. Dogs are pack animals, it is important for them to communicate and contact everyone around them.
Cats, on the contrary, find this repugnant; they are more likely to be outside observers than initiators of communication.
The second reason may be genetic. For example, there is a theory that saber-toothed tigers were quite oppressive to the ancestors of dogs in prehistoric times.
Consequently, echoes of those events could have been deposited at the genetic level in the form of instincts.
The third possible reason is that the cat is seen as potential prey. This is the same reason dogs attack raccoons, moles, and any other animals.
Earlier we wrote about why a cat attacks a dog.
